My Photography Background
Growing up I loved taking pictures. In fact I kept most of my cameras from when I was young. I had about 23 film cameras and 1 Kodak Advantage film camera.
During my senior year of high school I took my first photography class. It was great, I learned how to make a camera out of a M&M can while using light sensitive paper as my film. Learned how to use SLR cameras and developed pictures in a darkroom. I kept all my projects which was a lot. Although I wanted to buy my first SLR then, my DJ hobby took most of my savings. But I settled for dads F-801. I never got to developed any of the film I used and I got in trouble one day and he threw it in the trash.
In 2005, I got my first digital SLR. I loved it. I was already considered somewhat of a pro in Photoshop, creating fliers, websites, and CD covers for almost 10 years. Although I’ve almost forgotten most of what I learned in high school. I looked back at my work and realized that I had some very sloppy hand writing. But eventually I started to recall my memory and learned from reading books, video, and photographers online web sites.
A New Adventure in Wedding Photography
I wanted to get into wedding photography when I attended a Bridal show with my friends for their weddings. What really drew me in was how photo albums where almost like yearbooks, art books, and layouts like a magazine in some way. I wanted to create book style albums that showcase like artwork. I’ve done some professional printing in the past, but nothing like this.
It took me a few years to fully get my company started. And I would have to say that I am still a baby in this industry. Being a veteran in wedding entertainment for over 10 years, this was something very different. I love to show my masterpieces to clients and friends. I hope to learn from what they like so I can improve in future work.
My Style, My Designs, My Artwork
I really can’t say my style is unique. I am cut between a photo journalist and a Japaneses anime graphic Photoshopper. I don’t like to pose people very much, I love to catch the candid moments of peoples lives. Doing this I tend to take a lot of pictures. There has been times where I’ve taken a moment and shot about 75 shots during that time span.
Its hard not to stop shooting pictures when every facial expression is different during each second of that situation. With all of the shots I have taken, choosing which images to edit sometimes becomes difficult.
Photoshop has become the future darkroom of mine. I love to adjust images to increase the ambient moment of the image. Like anime cartoons, I love to see shadows and details. I usually spend about an hour on one image to perfect its art form.
