So whats in my gear bag? I have good amount of cool toys to use when I’m on location shooting. Although I don’t really bring everything out with me. Most of the time I bring my regular gear and keep it very light. But there are those occasions when you’ll need some extra tools to pull off the right affect. Here’s what I have laying around my Photoshop office.

Cameras

  • Nikon D3
  • Nikon D200 (I use this with the D3 together at the same time usually)
  • -UPDATE: I sold my D200, hello D700
  • Nikon D90 (Funnest toy to play with)

Lens

  • Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 (the work horse)
  • Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8
  • Nikkor 50mm f1.4G
  • Nikkor 35-70mm f2.8

Flashes

  • Nikon sb600 (Update: Sold for a QFlash)
  • Nikon sb800 (Update: Sold for another sb900)
  • Nikon sb900 (Best Nikon flash ever. Ergonomics is perfect. I may sell the other models to buy more of these)

Light Modifiers

  • A better bounce card and extra index cards
  • Lowell ID Video Light (I use this very often)
  • Q-Beam Flashlight Spotlight (Less than $40 and it works)

  • 2 Lightsphere (I never use these, but it’s a great cup to hold my coins)
  • HONL Snoot
  • Westcott Apollo Softbox
  • Westcott Micro Apollo Softbox
  • 2 Omni-Bounce – cut open at the top (I usually use this with a warming gel)
  • 8 Par38 and Spot36 Cans (Only used in the house for fun)

Other Gear

  • SD-8A Battery Pack
  • Lots of Enloops and Costco AA Batteries

  • Crumpler Bag and Rapid R strap
  • Elinchrom Skyports EL Universal Transmitter Kit (I prefer CLS for TTL, but this kit works great for manual use)
